Vans x Fear Of God x Pacsun – Era 95 Reissue (Released This Past Weekend)

fear-of-god-van-collaboration-rerelease-001

So this is a purposefully late post.  I didn’t want to add to any of the hysteria that was sure to ensue with this release, which proved itself to be one of the most wildly popular Vans releases of the year.  The hype was real, and to be expected, as Fear Of God has been this year’s trend setter, and with that came massive queue’s outside a few malls throughout the U.S.  These are the queue’s normally reserved for Jordan 1 and 11 releases, and it took a lot of mall security by storm, and there were stories of the usual fights, back-doored inventory, line cutters, and “not one person in line is wearing Vans” statements.  Whether they’re true or not, it’s these stories that add to the hype, and the insane $400 resell asking price.  I just wanted to acknowledge this release, and give props to Jerry Lorenzo for creating something that got people talking about it, and going crazy over it.

vans-london-undercover-collaboration-1

Words via Hypebeast:

“A new capsule collection of footwear and umbrellas from Vault by Vans and London Undercover sees three punchy graphic prints –- including an optical checkerboard and camouflage –- applied to both Vans’ Sk8-Hi Trek Cup LX shoes and heavyweight brollies by the British umbrella brand. London Undercover launched in 2008 and has done plenty to reinvent the humble umbrella as a fashion accessory with past collaborations including those with BAPE and maharishi. Elevate your winter wardrobe by picking one up from £130 GBP (approximately $162 USD) at selected global Vans outlets and the London Undercover flagship store from October 24.”

Under The Palms MY x SneakerLAH – Sneaker Convention (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) @underthepalmsmy #underthepalmsmy #sneakerlah

(click photo to enlarge)

Join Under The Palms Malaysia this weekend, at Kuala Lumpur’s premier sneaker convention SneakerLAH.  This is the first time that they’ve requested a Vans display, which is proof that the Vans culture is alive and thriving in the Southeast Pacific.  Our bro Izam runs our @underthepalmsmy page, and helps spread the Vans gospel all over Malaysia, so it was no surprise that he was approached to be a part of this event, and showcase some of his rare Vans.  He’s an artistic person, so he has a great sense of style and design, as you can tell by the photo of his space above.  He’ll be updating the IG account with pics from the event all weekend, so check it out from time to time.  Props my brotha!

I’ve since updated this post, to include a bunch of pics that were taken of the event and exhibit.  Check them out after the jump!

Vans Vault x Blends – Sk8-Hi Decon LX (UTP Review!) #blendsvans @blends

BlendsDecon1

Here it is folks.  The 6th “Bones” release by Blends and Vans Vault is finally upon us.  I was fortunate enough to get my hands on a pair a day early, so that I could do what I do, and that’s provide you with a unique perspective, a simple one, complete with a few real world photos, un-doctored, and in natural sunlight for that realistic effect.  Enjoy the pics, and good luck getting a pair tomorrow morning at 9AM online, or at each physical location when they open, including the new store located in the Larchmont Village, over near Melrose and the Paramount Studios!

The Sk8-Hi Decon LX is a model we rarely see.  As most of you may know, the Decon models come stripped down with minimal padding and for the most part the uppers are of a one-piece construction.  Blends added their signature minimalistic style with the use of black premium leather throughout, with off-white contrast stitching.  Their trademark Bone jazz stripe is the only panel that stands out on the smooth one-piece upper.  This is the first time Blends has stepped away from the zipper for a Bones release, and substituted it with a heel-pull tab.  It’ll mostly go unnoticed underneath a pair of pants though.  The vulcanized outsole is sort of an off-white, but not entirely of the marshmallow colorway, and the black foxing stripe ties off the classic aesthetic Vans is known for.  The tongues are once again muted, and the only branding on the shoe is by way of a footbed print.  Finally, the inside lining is canvas, and not pigskin, so that’s good news for some.  Oh, and there’s a dustbag and drawer box like the rest.

These are probably the most polarizing pair for any Blends purists, strictly because they didn’t follow suit with the prior models, but who cares right?  It’s still a Bones release.  It’s black.  It’s got premium leather throughout.  It’s got white soles with a black foxing stripe.  They definitely won’t come and go with any trends.  Don’t let anyone try and talk you out of trying to pick these up, because they’re probably just trying to increase their odds of scoring a pair.  Thanks to the Blends fam for always looking out for Under The Palms.  Appreciate you guys as always.

Vans Japan x Mooneyes – “Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show” Sk8-Hi & Slip-On (2016)

Moon2016-1

The 2016 Yokohama Hot Rod Custom Show is just around the corner, and Vans has teamed up with Mooneyes to create two motorsports inspired shoes, by way of a Sk8-Hi and a Slip-On.  Both feature familiar branding logos throughout the shoe, but each are entirely unique of one another.  The Slip-On comes in a gray canvas mockup, with a black printed canvas ad on the toe, with a very cool brushed metallic silver heel panel, complete with labels, derived from Mooneyes gas tanks which they are most widely known for.  The Sk8-Hi is done up in a yellow suede vamp, with a canvas side panel printed with the Mooneyes logo in a yellow to red gradient.  The custom details don’t stop there, as the ollie pads, and heel panel also feature custom embroidery and the top eyelets are plugged with a metal stud.  Both pairs finish off nicely with custom printed footbeds.  These will be available in highly limited quantities at this year’s YHRC Show on Dec. 4th, 2016.  If you’ll be in Japan during this time, you may want to stop by and check this show out, as it’s become one of the premier motorcycle shows in the world.  More info can be found here.

Vans Vault x Blends – Sk8-Hi Decon LX Bones (10.1.16) #blends @blends

blendsxvanssk8hidecon-025

Southern California-based boutique Blends teams up with Vans Vault once again for their sixth installment of their “Bone Jazz-Stripe” series. The duo take to the low-profile silhouette of the Sk8-Hi Deconstruct LX and adorn the model with lush premium cowhide uppers and a tonal Bone Jazz-Stripe for a more subtle branding approach accented with Off-White stitching throughout the construction of the shoe which sits atop the original Sk8-Hi midsole mold for a more authentic approach. Collaborative branding can be found placed on the shoe’s footbed cushioning. Other details such as black foxing, heel tab, and waffle outsole maintain a close similarity to our previous “Peacoat” and “Black” Sk8-Hi Reissue Zip LX releases. The Blends x Vans Vault Sk8-Hi Decon LX will be available this Saturday, October 1st, at Blends doors such as their unannounced newest location in Larchmont Village, Los Angeles as well as their online store. Head over to Blendsus.com for more information on the release.

Vans x 430 – Double Decade Old Skool & Apparel (9.23.16)

430-vans-old-skool-double-decade-1

Words via Hypebeast:

“Japanese BMX outfit 430 is still going strong two decades after its debut, so, to celebrate the 20-year milestone, the collective has teamed up with Vans for its latest co-branded endeavor. Like previous joint projects between the two, the highlight here is a special edition of the Old Skool. Aptly dubbed the “DOUBLE DECADE,” the kicks come with an all-black look and eschew more prototypical branding cues in favor of custom hits to the rubber foxing and laces, not to mention Vans’ iconic checkerboard motif across the footbed and tongue. To sweeten the deal, 430 has dropped a coinciding capsule collection of Vans apparel that includes a coaches jacket, tee and cap — all of which don special “DOUBLE DECADE” insignia.

Expect the entire range to be available from DECADE beginning this Friday, September 23.”

ODDFUTURE_VANS-AUTHENTIC-SET

Vans has teamed up with Odd Future to release this “Donut” Pack in a Classic Sk8-Hi and Authentic.  Both shoes feature a Scuba Blue turquoise colorway, with pink accents throughout.  There’s an all-over donut print that sets the theme, which was also printed on the box.  The Sk8-Hi also has an embroidered “OF” logo on the heel panel, for anyone who may not know who designed these.  They’re a fun shoe, and will sell out pretty fast, so be quick with the online links, such as Silo’s webstore if you want to get a pair!
