Vault By Vans x Shane Gonzales – Collection (4.7.23)

SP23_VAULT_SHANE_GONZALES_GROUP2_4540-2

Today, Vault by Vans and Shane Gonzales come together with their first footwear collaboration, “Star Spangled Glamour.” The collection boasts three Vault by Vans silhouettes, the Old Skool VLT LX, Authentic Zip VLT LX, and Sk8-Hi Reissue Strap VLT LX, with Gonzales’ rock ‘n roll spin.

The collection represents All-American motifs that have stood the test of time, playing off styles like cowboy boots, denim jeans and leather jackets. Using chrome, leather, and denim, the collection pays homage to the classic fashion that defined Sunset Boulevard, the iconic street in Hollywood, California.

Black leather Old Skool VLT LX sneakers feature traditional Western cowboy embroidery creating a contrasting and multi-dimensional aesthetic that is both modern and nostalgic. The Authentic Zip VLT LX is reimagined in classic blue denim with hidden laces and chrome detailing, while the Sk8-Hi Reissue Strap VLT LX in black leather has several riders jacket details such as collars, epaulets, and buckles.

“Collaborating with Vans is such a full circle moment for me. My friends and I grew up skating in Vans every day to and from school. Drawing on them and thrashing them until they weren’t wearable anymore. When I got the opportunity to create my own collection, I wanted to re-imagine the 3 Vans silhouettes that bring me back to my childhood and incorporate timeless all-American motifs into the design that I know will wear beautifully over time,” says Shane Gonzales.

With prices ranging from $130-$185, Vault by Vans x Shane Gonzales will be available beginning April 7 at Midnightstudios.live, and select Vault by Vans retail partners.

SP23_Nicole_McLaughlin_SlipOn_VP_VR3_LX_lineup

Vault by Vans is proud to partner with designer and multidisciplinary artist Nicole McLaughlin on a collection highlighting her love for vintage gardening and workwear totes. Known for her upcycled pieces and tongue-in-cheek designs, McLaughlin transforms the Vans Slip-On VP VR3 LX into a practical yet fun work of art, utilizing a mix of recycled and responsibly sourced materials. The collection brings sustainability and waste discussion to the forefront of this collaboration, an essential principal component for McLaughlin and Vans. The Vault by Vans x Nicole McLaughlin Slip-On VP VR3 LX will be available to shop globally on March 31, 2023, on Vans.com/nicole and at select Vault by Vans retail locations.

Through upcycling, Nicole unlocks the potential of single-use products into multifunctional ones. The concept of the Vault by Vans Slip-On VP VR3 LX, offers a renewed purpose to the silhouette with utilitarian pockets for gardening materials and work tools across the toe vamp. Available in two colorways, the White/Green is inspired by the classic gardening tote, while the Brown/Grey colorway references the workwear bucket bag often carried to and from the job site.

Each have been built with organic cotton canvas uppers, 50% recycled polyester bindings, and Vans’ biobased foam VR3Cush™ footbed that is made using at least 25% biobased EVA foam partially derived from plants per ASTM D6866-16 reference standard for comfort. The new VR3Waffle™ outsole contains 60% responsibly sourced natural rubber obtained from sources that follow proven sustainable practices with the intention of reducing impacts on the planet while still maintaining the grip and durability that Vans has been known for since 1966. Both silhouettes are finished with custom Nicole McLaughlin labels and a custom ankle collar strap for a functional way to carry and store your shoes. Watch the gardening tote get reimagined into the Vault by Vans x Nicole McLaughlin Slip-On VP VR3 LX now on @Vansvault.

“The Vault by Vans NM Gardening Tote is a vision I’ve had for a while”, said Nicole McLaughlin. “I’ve always loved the Slip-Ons and the traditional canvas upper. The idea of canvas made me think about vintage gardening bags and it inspired me to make my own version, a functional gardening tote Slip-On.”

“I created the original sample by using an old gardening bag, and the idea of sourcing sustainable fabrics and materials followed through the rest of the design process. I’m so excited with how the shoes turned out and it was so fun collaborating with the Vans team, they made my vision come to life!”

The spirit of Nicole McLaughlin’s design ingenuity was captured by Peter Sutherland in Boulder, Colorado and creative directed by Kyle Kivijärvi, the founder and curator of @Gramparents.

The Vault by Vans x Nicole McLaughlin collection will be available globally on March 31, 2023, on Vans.com and at select Vault by Vans retail locations. Vans BMX x Dakota Roche – Sk8-Hi 238 (Available Now!)

1

Vans BMX is proud to announce the latest collection with influential rider Dakota Roche, featuring the all-new BMX-specific silhouette, the BMX Sk8-Hi 238, and accompanying head-to-toe collection. In addition, Vans and Dakota teamed up on a new short film, “Low & Hi,” that represents all the moments experienced when filming for a new part.

As a BMX icon, creative artist, and filmmaker, Dakota Roche is a multi-hyphenate talent and modern-day Renaissance man. The all-new BMX Sk8-Hi 238 is a culmination of his pursuits and interests. Vans recognizes that to be truly great, riders, their equipment and their environment need to become one: if a single element is off, the whole endeavor can come crashing down. In the spirit of creating apparel and footwear that can stand up to the demands of life on two wheels, Vans and Dakota have teamed up on a new collection aimed at BMX, and beyond.

The all-new BMX Sk8-Hi 238 features Vans’ legendary BMX WaffleCup™ chassis, providing increased support without sacrificing pedal feel, a rubber toecap with knurling for extra toe protection and durability, and PopCush™ impact cushioning. In addition, the design team and Dakota decided to strip off the Sidestripe overlay to simplify the shoe’s aesthetic and put the focus on the tongue and lateral woven labels that Dakota designed himself.

In addition to the new BMX Sk8-Hi 238 silhouette, Dakota’s latest collaboration with Vans also includes a BMX Slip-On, Dak Roche bike bag, Dak Roche SS Woven, Dak Roche Mesh Trucker, a white demitasse striped button-down with pockets at the chest, a 1966 woven patch at the left chest and a woven label at the front bottom right with Vans branding, and custom artwork from Dakota himself.

Like Dakota Roche, the all-new BMX SK8-Hi 238 and supporting collection is built specifically for BMX. Dakota knows working through the highs and lows is what it takes to get anything done right. It’s these moments that are captured in his latest Vans BMX film, “Low & Hi,” which chronicles all the moments Dakota goes through while filming for a new video part. Dakota’s years of experience and hard work are reflected, both in the film and the design of his shoe.

The Vans BMX Sk8-Hi 238 by Dakota Roche collection is available now at Vans BMX retail locations and at Vans.com/bmx.

Vault by Vans x JSP – “I Love My JSP Vans” Collection (2.15.23)

5

Vault by Vans and Jimmy Gorecki’s JSP reunite for a third installment of footwear following the successful 2021 release. The latest collection pays homage to the skater and entrepreneurs East Coast roots and continues to elevate the Vault by Vans assortment.

The three-shoe lineup is grounded by two Vault by Vans silhouettes. A Kelly green, and a black Old Skool VLT LX, as well as a true blue Sk8-Hi VLT LX. Each features a supple pig suede upper that is contrasted by a nylon quarter panel. Vans’ iconic Sidestripe is updated with a reflective underlay to add contrast for day to night wear. Each sidewall is adorned with “I Love My JSP Vans”, a sentiment JSP founder Jimmy Gorecki heard consistently following the first Vault by Vans collaboration. A crystal-clear toe bumper is found on each pair and carries through to the outsole.

Captured in Venice Beach, California at Great Western Hoagies, the campaign video toys with nostalgia and a humorous reflection on Gorecki’s hometown roots from Philadelphia. See the film now on Youtube.

“For this latest partnership with Vault by Vans, our goal is to reflect feelings of familiarity and take new materials and design details like the reflective elements, a nostalgic nylon, super soft suede and continue to evolve the classic styles we grew up shredding in to make a design that reads both rich and rugged and with a whole lot of love that you’ll feel all the way to your sole”, said Jimmy Gorecki.

Paying tribute to his early days shredding in Vans, Gorecki tapped New York skate film legend, RB Umali to capture a session with none other than Vans’ very own, Dick Rizzo alongside Mark Del Negro and Paris Summerfield. Watch the edit now on Youtube.

The Vault by Vans x JSP “I Love My Vans” collection will be available to shop on www.standardissuetees.com on Wednesday, February 15 at 10 am PST.

Vans Surf x Mami Wata – H2T Collection (2.16.23)

SP23_Surf_MamiWata_ElvFootwearLineup

Vans Surf is proud to announce its latest head-to-toe collection with African surf lifestyle brand Mami Wata, which draws inspiration from African surf culture, key historical and cultural events, and the power and positivity of surfing. The collection leads with Vans Authentic VR3 SF and a curated assortment of additional footwear styles, apparel, and accessories.

Founded in 2017, Mami Wata is translated in West African Pidgin English as “Mama Water” or Mother Ocean. Based out of Cape Town, the brand is focused on furthering manufacturing diversity and surf development in Africa and supporting world-leading African surf therapy organizations Waves for Change and Surfers Not Street Children. Mami Wata’s mission is to offer a different narrative of surfing and Africa to the world and to educate and share the positive effects of surfing with everyone. This season, Vans partners with Mami Wata to deliver a collection founded on these principles and inspired by important cultural moments in Africa’s history.

From Zaire’s “Rumble in the Jungle” in 1974 and Nigeria’s “Festac ‘77” to other iconic local music festivals, this new head to toe collection takes the bold and graphic imagery of these cultural events and adds a modern Vans twist, tying back to Vans’ heritage Checkerboard prints. Vans Authentic VR3 SF in Mami Wata Cream is the hero of the collection and follows Vans’ strict materials guidelines with one or a combination of regenerative, responsibly sourced, renewable, and recycled materials making up at least 30% of the product.

The upper features leather (Vans leather products support responsible manufacturing via the Leather Working Group) and organic cotton on the Style 36 Decon VR3 SF and Sk8-Hi 138 Decon VR3 SF, respectively. The outsole across all footwear features Vans’ all-new VR3Waffle™ rubber compound. All the rubber used to make this outsole (60% of the compound) is regeneratively grown natural rubber sourced from farms utilizing agricultural practices intended to promote biodiversity, enhance water cycles, improve soil health, and/or sequester carbon. The brand-new VR3Cush™ drop-in footbed uses 25 percent biobased EVA foam partially derived from plants.

Along with the Mami Wata Authentic VR3 SF, the new collection also features a Style 36 Decon VR3 SF and the Sk8-Hi 138 Decon VR3 SF, both in Mami Wata Cream.

By utilizing bold graphic details in contrast to a micro-Checkerboard, inspired by hand-woven fabrics popular throughout Africa, this collection pays homage to the past while giving a vibrant nod to the future generations that will live and define African surf culture. The new apparel features a Mami Wata Pullover, short sleeve tees, woven shirt, boardshorts, and a hat.

The Vans x Mami Wata Collection will be available globally beginning February 16, 2023, at Vans Surf retail locations and Vans.com/news.

The collection reflects Collina Strada’s core ethos of playful expression, and each piece is designed to highlight individuality and champion positivity. A woven shirt, tee, and sock in Sweet Lilac offers another monochrome series, while an all-over doodled backpack in Antique White caps off the collection.
