This spring, Vans commemorates the life and legacy of David Bowie with a collection of unisex footwear and apparel for adults and toddlers. Drawing inspiration from some of Bowie’s most influential works and many colorful personas, this collaboration celebrates a joint force between Vans and “the man who fell to earth”—two entities who for decades have championed the different and the strange, leaving a lasting impression on generations. The Vans and David Bowie collection lands in select Vans retail stores and online April 5.

David Bowie is a truly immortal artist whose body of work revolutionized sound and vision, leaving a legacy of innovation and reinvention that will live on forever. For this collection, Vans designers were inspired by iconic Bowie imagery throughout his career from 1969’s Space Oddity all the way to his final album, 2016’s ★.

The Vans x David Bowie collection kicks off with a five-piece apparel and accessories capsule, with each style designed to represent remarkable moments from the Aladdin Sane and Ziggy Stardust album covers to the Serious Moonlight tour.

  • The footwear collection begins by dedicating Vans Classic Era to Bowie’s first hit single “Space Oddity” from 1969. Vans’ first skate shoe showcases varying hues of blue and green and cylindrical shapes that matches back to the album art cover. The Era is finished with a black sole that is accented with the album name on the medial and tonal design details on the lateral sides.
  • The Slip-On 47 V has been reimagined to include fuzzy checkerboard uppers reminiscent of the coat seen on Bowie on the Hunky Dory album artwork. The slip-on is accented by yellow suede uppers and is finished with the artist’s moniker on the pull-tab.
  • The Sk8-Hi Platform 2.0 pays tribute to Bowie’s glam rock alter-ego Ziggy Stardust. The platform style is decked out in red patent leather and features an embossed Bowie lettering and black platform sole. Paying homage to Bowie’s inclusive nature, Vans will be offering the Sk8-Hi Platform style in an extended size range for men and women.
  • Vans’ Old Skool is dedicated to David Bowie’s Aladdin Sane album and includes pearlescent pebbled leather uppers accented by the iconic red and blue lightning bolt and finished with Vans’ Sidestripe. The two renowned motifs merge on the Sk8-Hi model which has checkerboard printed sidewall and includes the Bowie lightning bolt logo lock-up overlaid across the ubiquitous print and Sidestripe.
  • David Bowie’s last album, ★ is highlighted across Vans Classic Slip-On model. Using a combination of canvas and suede uppers, the vamp includes a vinyl star while the tonal black outsole includes an embossed star. The Slip-On is completed with a galaxy of stars on the footbed as a tribute to Bowie’s legacy.
  • Even the youngest of David Bowie fans can pay homage to the prolific artist with a two-pair collection of footwear including the Sk8-Hi Zip and Old Skool V models that match back to the Bowie and Aladdin Sane adult styles.

The Vans x David Bowie collection is available for a limited time in select Vans retail stores and online beginning April 5.  Click on pic above on release date to purchase!

The latest collection from Vans’ global skate team rider Lizzie Armanto has finally sprung. With the super bloom season exploding with eye-catching and colorful flowers, it’s only natural for Lizzie’s new collection to blossom in a beautiful lavender pack featuring the Vans Slip-On Pro, Sk8-Hi Pro and matching apparel to complement. Lizzie’s vibrant aesthetic and love for skateboarding has inspired a collection made for women to feel comfortable and boldly push forward.

Featured in premium canvas and suede uppers, Lizzie Amanto’s endorsed colorway of the Vans Slip-On Pro and Sk8-Hi Pro are enhanced with innovative performance features that include supportive UltraCush HD sockliners for resilient cushioning and advanced comfort, and Duracap-reinforced underlays in high abrasion areas for premium durability and consistent fit. Fabricated with an added rubber ollie pad for increased protection, Lizzie’s endorsed colorways also reveal reflective checkerboard detailing on the foxing stripe that binds the shoe together.

While traveling in Asia, Lizzie became enamored with the traditional Japanese “Maneki-neko” cat that symbolizes good luck and knew it had to be incorporated in this collection. Both the Vans Slip-On Pro and Vans Sk8-Hi Pro have good fortune detailed in the sole and Lizzie’s own personal initials embroidered onto the heel counter. The Sk8-Hi Pro continues to bring her aesthetic to life with the top eyelet shaped as a flower, custom made for Lizzie.

Designed with movement in mind, Lizzie’s apparel collection is both stylish and functional. The Lizzie Body Suit provides a breathable cotton elastane material covered with an all-over checkered print that stays tucked in for optimal skate activity. The Lizzie Raglan Hoodie is the perfect pullover for warming up before a skate session. With a relaxed fit that keeps comfy looking fresh, the striking lavender-toned colorway and Lizzie’s embroidered signature makes this an essential to the outfit. Finally, the Lizzie Skate Pack keeps all the travel essentials tucked away in a backpack perfect for traveling with two main compartments ideal for tech storage, skate gear and other knick knacks.

Part of the Vans global family since 2014, Lizzie Armanto has paved her own path, boasting several contest wins and acclaimed video parts along the way. Staying true to the Vans DNA, Armanto has emerged as an icon of originality and an inspiration to aspiring skaters across the globe. When she’s not traveling or at her local skatepark, Lizzie continues to make her mark in skateboarding history by becoming the first woman to complete the infamous Tony Hawk loop in late 2018. Vans’ collaboration with Lizzie aligns with the brand’s commitment to enable and empower women skateboarders around the world.

Vans Japan x N.Hoolywood – Capsule Collection Apparel (Spring/Summer 2019)

https _hypebeast.com_image_2019_03_n-hoolywood-vans-spring-summer-2019-capsule-collection-2

Words via Hypebeast:

“N.HOOLYWOOD, headed by the Japanese designer Daisuke Obana, has tapped Vans for a Spring/Summer 2019 capsule collection which was first hinted at on its SS19 runway.

Comprised of a coach jacket and a pair of logo T-shirts, the collection sees a number of plays on the traditional Vans logo and iconography. Whited-out “OFF THE WALL” skateboards and a number of Americana-influenced Vans badges make up the collections logo-heavy look. Being a three-piece capsule collection, N.HOOLYWOOD presents a strong addition to any outfit with its standout T-shirts and contrastingly clean coach jacket, the latter being a piece that nods to Vans’ California-skate heritage.

The capsule comes after N.HOOLYWOOD presented its avantgarde SS19 runway show, where a pair of triple-black suede Vans chukkas were spotted on the catwalk.

T-shirt’s are priced at JPY 8,000 (approx. $70 USD) and the coach jacket is JPY 14,800 (approx. $130 USD), and will be available at all N.HOOLYWOOD stores and online from March 16. Sneakers are expected to release on May 4, but no news has been announced which pair will be dropping just yet.”

thumbnail_image001

Vans collaborates with acclaimed London fashion designer, Ashley Williams, as she reimagines four of Vans Classic footwear styles with playful and cheeky elements inspired by her latest collection. Inspired by living and breathing skate culture in her youth, Williams seamlessly merges her inherent sense of style with an “Off The Wall” attitude. The Authentic is finished with custom “A” emblem on the top eyelet and Vans x Ashley Williams laces. Vans Style 93 includes tiger printed canvas uppers with tonal black lugged outsole with an “A” metal eyelet detail and buckle.
