Vans Skate – Grosso Forever (4.28.21)

To pay tribute to skate legend, historian, gatekeeper, and beloved Vans family member Jeff Grosso, and to mark his birthday, Vans is proud to announce a new Love Letters To Skateboarding episode solely featuring Jeff, complimented by the Grosso Forever collection.

Vans’ special birthday episode of Love Letters to Skateboarding celebrates Jeff’s life, in his own words, and was compiled by long time co-creators, Buddy Nichols and Rick Charnoski of Six Stair Productions. The episode illustrates Jeff’s raw, authentic and often-opinionated take on skateboarding that was captured during a decade of filming the series.

Jeff’s genuine love for skateboarding shined through in everything he said and did, and his support for the community–especially the up-and-coming generations—came from a true belief that skateboarding belonged to the kids. Gaining notoriety in the 1980’s within the competitive scene, he quickly became one of the most recognizable faces in skateboarding with the onset of skate videos that highlighted his skill along with his sardonic wit and audaciousness. Jeff was known for entertaining the masses with his self-deprecating humor and antagonistic spirit. In the span of his influence on the sport, however, Jeff became the unofficial skate historian, helping to create ten years of Vans’ Love Letters to Skateboarding with his unique and raw commentary on the industry.

“It’s you, your skateboard, and the world. So go out and make it your own.”
– Jeff Grosso

Jeff wore Vans for 50 years, and the Grosso Forever collection features iconic designs that he sported during formative moments in his early career. Royalties from this collection will go directly to Jeff’s son, Oliver.

Vans Skate x Dime – Skate Mid Skool (4.24.21)

Vans and Dime have teamed up once again to reimagine the Vans Skate Mid Skool. Featuring the Montreal-based brand’s signature yellow across three distinct colorways, the Skate Mid Skool comes to life with help from Dime’s ‘90s-skate-inspired style and nostalgic aesthetic.

An archival silhouette from Vans’ early years, the Skate Mid Skool leads the latest collection with Dime, featuring a mix of elevated suede and nylon, a translucent outsole and heel mustache, custom co-branded tongue label, and a debossed leather hangtag.

The Skate Mid Skool is offered in off-white, navy/white, and black/atlantic green, with Dime’s signature yellow running throughout the collection on the heel scab, sockliner, and the Vans x Dime custom shoebox.

Dime was born in 2005 out of a common thread between a group of skateboarders to exercise fun and creativity. Dime was established through its skateboarding video projects, becoming known for its humor and innovative concepts. In 2015, the Dime Glory Challenge presented by Vans elevated skateboarding events to a new standard with its uncompetitive style and broad, relatable appeal. Following the same ideologies, Dime opened its flagship store in Montréal and evolved its promotional merchandise into a clothing brand sold in finer skate retailers and fashion boutiques worldwide.

The Vans x Dime Skate Mid Skool is available April 24, 2021, at Dimemtl.com, and available April 27 at Vans Skateboarding retailers. For more information, visit Vans.com/Dime.

Vault By Vans x The Webster – Bold Ni LX (4.19.21)

VaultxTheWebster-BoldNi-13

Vans, the original action sports footwear and apparel brand, and The Webster, a luxury multi-brand omnichannel retailer, announce today the launch of their exclusive partnership. The capsule introduces the Bold Ni LX reinterpreted in embossed croc print in three colorways inspired by The Webster’s heritage of sprawling Everglades and Miami’s sunny spirit.

The shoes will be housed in a limited-edition box featuring a pink tropical floral print, taken from Founder and CEO of The Webster, Laure Hériard Dubreuil’s personal collection of vintage wallpapers from the ’60s and ’70s, that are incorporated throughout the design of all The Webster boutiques. In honor of the inspiration drawn for this exclusive capsule, The Webster will donate a portion of the proceeds to Friends of the Everglades, a non-profit charity dedicated to preserving the Everglades, key to both the survival of native wildlife and clean drinking water for almost all of Central Florida.

“As we continue to grow as a company, our connection to Miami strengthens and is always represented no matter where we are! It has helped us establish major parts of our brand’s DNA, from the streets of South Beach lined with historic Art Deco buildings, to the sunny disposition. I am so excited and grateful that Vans has partnered with us in creating the perfect homage to our founding city. The capsule truly captures the essence of Miami down to the pastel colors and vintage silhouette.” Says Laure Hériard Dubreuil, Founder and CEO of The Webster

The synergy of the collaboration between Vault by Vans and The Webster is captured by photographer Ysa Perez positioning the campaign imagery in the streets of Miami. Blending the quaint tropical backdrops with an energetic attitude, the editorial fuses Vans’ roots with The Webster’s vibrant spirit.

Vault by Vans x The Webster exclusive Bold Ni LX capsule will be available in all The Webster locations and at thewebster.us on April 19, 2021.

IMG_5155

SE Bikes just released a bunch of images of their Vans collab 20″ P.K. Ripper which is set to release this Summer, alongside the rest of the product that is coming out.  For this announcement, SE Bikes had shot a few pics with Perry Kramer, the BMX pro who the bike was originally made for back in the day, and where the “P.K.” gets it’s name from.  Limited to 250 bikes in the U.S.  This bike is amazing, has a ton of Vans custom pieces on it, including SE waffle grips and tires, pads, and maybe some other stuff I missed.  If anyone has a plug on one, let me know!  Not much more info as of yet, so just enjoy the pics!

lighter

Goodhood has teamed up with Vans Vault, on their 4th collaboration, to bring to us a 2-piece collection, inspired by the weirdos, the stylers, the punks, the outsiders, the square pegs in the round holes, the ones who see things differently. A Goodhood Vans culture clash, if you will. Iconic shoes with their signature graphics representing their culture and community.

Available in an OG Era LX, and an OG Sk8-Hi LX, both done up in a mix of olive green and black suede, as well as olive colored printed canvas, with both pairs sitting on top of a black vulcanized outsole with custom printed messages.  Pretty nice, if I do say so myself.  I’m a sucker for olive green anything.

Launching in-store and online, Friday 16th April 2021. Register now for a chance to purchase these on the Launches section of the Goodhood site.

Vans x Commissary – Era 95 DX (White/Black) (Auction For Commissary Lounge on 4.8.21) @commissarystore

IMG_5079

Commissary, a Southern California staple in the world of high end streetwear, known for introducing some of the more rare and limited luxury streetwear brands to us for over a decade, which included being one of only a very select few, to officially carry Supreme in the early days, has released a few pics of their Era 95 DX’s, in a white colorway.  As far as we know, this shoe was originally meant to just be for friends & family, just like the black pair that surfaced a few years back, which had some of us Vans collectors trying to figure out how we could get our hands on them.  Well, this time we’re in luck, as they will be offering up 50 pairs, in an online auction format, to raise money for their Commissary Lounge, a live venue space attached to their store located in Costa Mesa, CA.  This pandemic fucked with a lot of people’s livelihoods, and entertainment was one of the biggest hit industries.  Store owner, Andrew Lee, mentioned on his instagram that all proceeds from this auction will go to saving his live venue from it’s demise.  He wants to continue to put on live music shows and keep the spot alive as long as he can, so hopefully with the support of his regulars, as well as some die-hard Vans collectors, he can keep the space afloat.

The shoes feature an all-white canvas design, with Commissary logos printed throughout the uppers, as well as on the foxing scene.  The ankle collar features a printed message.  One shoe reads “You don’t have to go home”, and the other says “but you can’t stay here”, which sounds familiar to anyone who stays at the club until the lights start to come on.  The shoe is built on the Anaheim Factory DX platform, which is a fan favorite amongst us Vans snobs.

I’m hoping this goes well for him, and I’m always down to support those who have a solid foundation in the culture that we’re all a part of.  One of the OG’s, not a newcomer with no understanding or connection to the history of streetwear and those who really paved the way for others.  So help him out, and bid these things up.  I hope a bunch of old heads come out of the woodwork for these!

The auction, along with 4 t-shirt pre-orders will go live tomorrow (4/8/21) at midnight on the Commissary site.

If you’d also like to donate to their GoFundMe to keep the Commissary Lounge open, you can visit that link HERE.

Vault By Vans x Noon Goons – Collection (4.15.21)

https-_hypebeast.com_image_2021_04_noon-goon-vault-by-vans-slip-on-style-36-old-skool-release-date-7

Words via Hypebeast:

“Vault by Vans and Noon Goons have joined forces for a three-shoe capsule that epitomizes classic California cool. Both brands boast deep SoCal roots while toing the line between skate, surf, and several other West Coast subcultures, so their pairing is a serendipitous one — and it’s produced fresh takes on the Slip-On, Style 36 and Sk8-Hi, each with elevated materials and striking embellishments.

The collection’s crown jewel is the Slip-On VLT LX, a sleek silhouette that’s done up in rich crushed blue velvet with a black sole and a white Noon Goons hit embroidered on the back. Even the insoles are dashingly detailed, bosting Noon Goons’ signature leopard print. The Style 36 VLT LX — Vans‘ first ever silhouette with the now-iconic Jazz stripe — arrives in black and white with a stark black snakeskin base, Noon Goons script on the heel and crisp white accents on the midfoot and midsole. Lastly the Sk8-Hi VLT LX retains the snakeskin-printed leather of the Style 36 but flips the color scheme, opting for black Jazz stripes and Noon Goons heel hits atop its white base”.

The Vault by Vans x Noon Goons collection is set to arrive at Vault by Vans stockists on April 15. Prices are set at $115 USD for the Slip-On, $125 USD for the Style 36 and $135 USD for the Sk8-Hi.

Vault By Vans x NOAH – OG Style 24 LX (4.8.21)

SS21-Vans-07

Words via Vans and pics via NOAH:

“Vans and NY-based label Noah reunite for Spring 2021 to release a duo of OG Style 24 LX sneakers from the California footwear label’s Vault by Vans division. Following up on successful skate-inspired collaborations in season’s past, the environmentally conscious East Coast brand pays tribute to Vans’ West Coast heritage this round — specifically the storied curbs of Venice, California.

Working with the Vans OG Style 24 LX, Noah tapped into the storied history of “fun”, with an abstract camouflage pattern straight out of the late ‘80s. The rubberized toe of the Style 24 was originally added to increase durability for knees slides on vert ramps, but the improved strength offered by the rubber detail allowed skaters of all ilk’s to get more life, and thus more fun, out of their shoes. In Noah’s take, premium canvas uppers in vibrant Fuchsia/Black and White/Green are offset by cream and black outsoles, respectively. Both pairs keep it OG with classic gum waffle outsoles, while the subtle Noah logo on the tongue completes the design”.

The Vault by Vans x Noah OG Style 24 LX will be released April 8, 2021 exclusively through Noah stores worldwide and noahny.com.

Vans Skate x NJ Skateshop x Sayre & Fisher – “Red Brick” Collection (3.27.21)

https-_hypebeast.com_image_2021_03_vans-nj-skateshop-slip-on-pro-half-cab-crockett-high-pro-collection-release-info-7

Words via NJ Skateshop & pics via Hypebeast:

“On March 20th, 2020, NJ Skateshop will celebrate the city of Sayreville with a Vans Skateboarding collection inspired by the iconic brick company that birthed the borough’s namesake, Sayre & Fisher.

In 2003 NJ Skateshop opened its original door at 389 Washington Road, Sayreville, New Jersey, the hometown of NJ’s owners, Steve Lenardo, Troy Jankowski and Chris Nieratko. As we well know, our town was one big clay pit before being named, Sayreville, in the 1860s after James R. Sayre Jr, one half of the Sayre & Fisher Brick Company.

Over the 120 years that the Sayre & Fisher Brick Company had been operational from 1850 to 1970 it became one of the largest brick manufacturing companies in the world, producing upwards of 6.2 billion bricks by 1950. The S & F Brick Co, built the base of the Statue of Liberty, as well as the Empire State Building and the World Trade Center. Sayre & Fisher also baked the bricks used to build up every East Coast city from Richmond to Boston.

What most may not know is that some of the most iconic skateboard spots on the East Coast are made with Sayre & Fisher bricks. To pay homage to their first location where they remained for a decade until closing after Hurricane Sandy, as well as the S&F Brick Co and their skateboarding roots, NJ Skateshop partnered with the legendary footwear brand, Vans, to create an NJ Co shirt and three limited edition brick embossed suede skate shoes: The Half Cab. The Slip On Pro and The Gilbert Crockett Hi.

The shoes become available at NJ Skateshop in New Brunswick and Jersey City at 10 am March 20th online at the end of the day and at finer skate shops across America on March 27th.”
