Vans DQM General Store – Grand Opening Recap (video)

Words via Hypebeast:

“Epitomizing the core vision and foundation of the Vans DQM General Store, a video seen here offers a recap featuring an interview with DQM owner Chris Keefe and the concept’s launch.  The video showcases the special opening day in-store event for press, friends and family, with an intimate performance by Ray Barbee and The Mattson 2. Culminating that evening, a launch event was hosted at the House of Vans in Brooklyn, with a concert by Suicidal Tendencies.”

Vans x In4mation – Chukka Low “Rattles” (samples)

Wow.  I logged into the forum today, and I was surprised to see that Keith from In4mation was responding to a few random posts, because he hasn’t been on for awhile.  I didn’t think anything of it.  So after a little while, I start combing through all of the unread posts, and I see that there’s a new thread started in the “collaborations” section, by him.  I was like a kid on Christmas morning!  I didn’t know what to expect.  I clicked into the thread, and there it was, the sickest looking snakeskin Vans shoe I’ve ever seen.  Now, this might be a personal taste, but c’mon, rattlesnake skin, son!  And the patriot in me, loves the “Don’t Tread On Me” saying on the insole, that you can barely make out, but what else could it say, right?  These will be an instant hit, no doubt.  I’m in.  Are you?!

Thanks to Keith at In4mation, for the pic!

Vans x Max Schaaf – Era Pro (sample/reissue?)

One of my old friends I used to know from back in the old Honda days, bbbfalcs, recently joined our forums, but has been into sneaker collecting for awhile, and he showed us a pic of the pair of Max Schaaf Era Pro’s that he received from a friend, featuring the rubberized ollie pad that everyone else missed out on.  Before this pic, we’ve only seen catalog pics of what it looked like, and we are all jealous.  This shoe would’ve sold way more pairs, if this 10 cent piece of rubber was just attached to the final production model.  Guaranteed!

Vans x Nibwaakaawin – 2012 Collection (Chicago Pow Wow Release!)

Team OTW is no stranger to the Nibwaakaawin x Vans collaborations for the All Nations Skate Jam that is held every year, and the 4th installment is due out next month, this time releasing at the Chi-Town Pow Wow.  Each release features authentic Pendleton wool blankets, in Native American patterns.  Check out what ANSJ had to say about them below, and check out their homepage to learn about their great organization that does so much for the skate community, as well as the young Native American skaters!

“The store is located in the heart of Soho at 93 Grand Street, in a landmark building and a neighborhood full of history. The General will not only carry on the mindset, respect and authenticity of DQM, but teams it up with the knowledge and values of Vans, to cater to the growing skateboarding and lifestyle community in New York City and beyond.

The General will carry a curated selection of Vans footwear and apparel for men, women and kids; DQM apparel; and a small collection of DQM for VANS designed apparel and footwear available only at the New York store.”

Vans x Supreme – “Flies Pack” (Fall/Winter 2011)

Finally, some official news of the next Vans x Supreme release!  We saw some early pics of the “Flies” pack a few months back, but we only saw the Era model.  Now, we get a first look at the acc0mpanying Sk8-Hi model, which is not much different in design, or colorblocking, from the Era, but still cool none the less.  As with most Supreme releases, there may or may not be a few other colorways, but we’ll just have to wait on Supreme’s official news release, which should be coming very soon.  Stay tuned for the updates!

Vans x Seventy Four – Slip-On (Fall 2011)

Words via Highsnobiety:

“In an interesting collaboration Japanese brand Seventy Four teamed up with Vans on three canvas versions of the Slip-On. Rather than changing much on the classic low top sneaker, the brand used standard red, navy and black canvas versions of it, adding its logo patch on the heel and a leather tag on the tongue. They keep all three sneakers tonal on the upper, resulting in clean and classic looking styles.”

These are a Japan exclusive, and can be purchased from Grandh now.

Vans x Zumiez – Chukka Low “Denim” (Fall 2011)

Zumiez brings back their exclusive Chukka Low series for the Fall season, and this season is looking good with two tonal colorways, black or grey.  Both are constructed with a combination of denim and canvas, have some minor red contrast stitching, and feature metal lace eyelets.  The grey pair, has a houndstooth inner lining as well.  Look for both of these now, at Zumiez.
