Vans Pro Classics x Ray Barbee – Old Skool 92 & Epoch 95

The last Ray Barbee collaboration was a solid hit.  It just goes to show that the classic shape is much more sought after than the newer shapes of most Vans classic models.  This time, there’s an unfamiliar model that’s come along for the ride, although it isn’t a new one by any means.  The Epoch was a model that Ray Barbee wore circa’ 95, when Vans were still made in the USA, and it’s back and looking good!  The Old Skool is back again, and is looking like an instant cop for me, with the forest green that we saw on the Ray Barbee Era’s, in their classic shape, and white contrast stitching, and accents.  Who else needs these?!

Vans x Beauty & Youth – Authentic “Cord” Pack (Japan only!)

Japanese clothing label Beauty & Youth by United Arrows, has once again teamed up with Vans on another shoe creation.  This time using the Authentic as their base, they chose to construct each one using a plush corduroy material.  Beauty & Youth’s approach to designing Vans, is to keep the appearance subtle, but to use materials that make you wonder why you’ve never seen those at your local Vans store.  Available in 3 colorways: Black, Brown, and Burgundy, which at first, look like the colors from any regular Vans Fall/Winter release.  The Burgundy pair comes with a gum sole, while the other two come with a classic white sole.  Available soon, but expect these to be exclusive to Japanese Beauty & Youth retailers.

Vans x Mastermind – Sk8-Hi (Japan only!)

Check out this upcoming Sk8-Hi from Japanese clothing brand Mastermind.  Showcasing their signature skull and crossbones logo, on what looks to be a primarily black upper, with a black and white checkered lining.  Not much info on these yet, but I assume they’re a Japan-only release, constructed in the Japan style Sk8-Hi.  I need these!

Vans OTW x Mr. Cartoon – Alomar

Mr. Cartoon is the next advocate from Vans OTW to get his own shoe, and it’s about time.  We’ve known for awhile that a shoe was in the works, but that’s all the info that existed.  Today, we’ve learned that the Alomar was his shoe of choice, and we can now give you a first look at the Mr. Cartoon Alomar.  Dressed up in a navy blue nubuck leather with plaid lining, and gold accents for the eyelets, and gold embroidered lettering, and logos, inspired by his tattoo artwork that he’s known around the world for.  You can catch a large cursive “C” with some nice filigree on the side panel of the shoe.  You can also see a clown logo on the tongue, and a cross on the heel pull, which are both seen a lot in Cartoon’s work, influenced by Southern California’s Latin culture, and their specific artistic style, whether it’s in the form of an airbrushed hood of a lowrider, or a full back piece tattoo.  You can say he’s one of a few advocates that brought Latino art to the masses, even if he hasn’t been given the title!  You can expect these to release soon, so stay with OTWS for any new info!

Vans x Disney – “Minnie Couture” Pack (Japan only!)

It’s been awhile since we’ve had any Disney news on here.  It’s also been awhile since we’ve had any womens news as well, so when I saw on Modern Notoriety this morning, that there was an upcoming collaboration with Vans and Disney called the “Minnie Couture” collection, I was delighted to be able to share this with you all!  This pack consists of a Sk8-Hi, and a Slip-On, adorned with brown fleece all over the outside, and cream colored fleece on the inner lining.  Both sit on top of off-white soles, with pink foxing stripes, and the Sk8-Hi has pink polka-dot laces.  Available on 10/7/11.  Oh, and did I mention this was a Japan only release?  I guess I haven’t had any news on that for awhile, either!

Vans x Offspring – Era 59 CA (Fall 2011 – available now!)

Words via Hypebeast:

“Another maturing relationship between Vans and British retailer, Offspring sees two fall iterations of the Vans Era California. Perfectly fit for the season, the collection comes to light through a supple navy leather silhouette with brown leather laces and a soft white inner lining. Rounding off the two-pack, a “silver sage” colorway is mocked up in a soft suede upper with hints of rich brown leather throughout. Revisiting similar textile and fabric choices as their past Offspring and Vans collaborations, this season’s collection is likely to be in high demand. A limited run of both colorways is now available in Offspring stores nationwide and in the Offspring online store.”

Vans OTW – The Art of Lettering by Mr. Cartoon

Words via Hypebeast:

“Vans OTW and Mr. Cartoon proudly present the Art of Lettering, a limited edition book featuring Cartoon’s personal photography, published by Eric Elms/And Press. The first in a series of forthcoming projects from Vans OTW advocates including Cartoon, Elms, Dimitri Coste and The Blackouts, the book was created in conjunction with Mr. Cartoon’s “Art of Lettering” seminar held in Los Angeles this summer. The seminar featured Cartoon discussing how lettering has impacted his life – from graffiti art to vintage sign painting and modern day low rider script as well as illustration airbrushing and his concepts of tattooing. A limited run of 818 books is now available at select OTW retailers worldwide.”
