Vans & Nice Kicks Present Vulcanized Vinyl

Words via NiceKicks:

“This month, Austin, Texas will play host to live music, great parties, and Nice Kicks. Specifically, Vans and Nice Kicks are joining forces at SXSW for the Vulcanized Vinyl Pop-up Shop. Classics, California models, tees, tanks, and accessories will be on sale in addition to a limited edition Vulcanized Vinyl tee.

That’s not all though. For the first time ever, Vans is re-releasing five of their most popular band shoes on a first-come, first-served basis. This includes makeups for Slayer (3/13), Descendents (3/14), Bad Religion (3/15), Iron Maiden (3/16), and Social Distortion (3/17).

If that’s not enough, we’re also offering concierge service and delivery of your purchases to major hotels in Austin, so you won’t have to visit every single venue to get your goods.

It all starts with a grand opening party on Friday, March 9 at The Lodge at 411 E. 6th Street that will be held between the hours of 7PM and 10PM; great music and delicious BBQ will be available. The first 100 people to stop by the shop that day will get a ticket to the hottest bash of the night.

The Vulcanized Vinyl Pop-up Shop will be located at 313 ½ E. 6th Street and will open on March 9th and end on March 18th, from noon to midnight each day.”

Vans Sk85ive2 – Indoor Skatepark Opening (Recap)

Words via Hypebeast:

“Holding down its Causeway Bay spot since 1999, Hong Kong’s 8FIVE2SHOP has been a mainstay for the city’s skate culture since day one. Since its inception, Brian Siswojo and his staff have played host to a handpicked curation of some of the most coveted skate brands over the course of the shop’s 12-year history. Giving nod to both the history and ever-expanding skateboarding culture within the Asia Pacific region, Vans recently joined 8FIVE2SHOP to create Hong Kong’s first ever indoor skatepark aptly titled “Sk85ive2.” The opening night not only featured sounds by DJ Ghost Style but also showcased a live demo by Vans x 8FIVE2SHOP riders. With plenty of drinks, food and waffle soles (literally) to go around, the duo augmented the night with an exclusive installation and exhibition of the Thrasher 30th Anniversary Photo Show.”

Vans OTW – The BlackOuts x VP Records “Kingston, Jamaica” (Limited Edition Album)

Words via FreshNGood:

“In 2011, Vans OTW and The Blackouts (Ako and Atiba Jefferson) set out to create a free reggae compilation featuring music from VP Record’s vast catalog of artists. VP Records houses the best in reggae and dance hall music and the twin DJ duo spent weeks carefully selecting each artist for this vinyl compilation. Once the tracks were chosen, the Advocates and Vans set out for Jamaica to finalize the project. In Kingston and Trench Town, The Blackouts were able to walk the steps of Bob Marley and Peter Tosh and photographed living reggae legends such as I Wayne, King Jammy and Ding Dong for the album artwork. Although The Blackouts time as OTW Advocates has come and gone, they’ll always be a part of the Vans family.”

Vans OTW x The BlackOuts – Kingston, Jamaica (Vinyl Album)

The OTW advocate duo The BlackOuts, will be releasing this compilation reggae album along with Vans OTW, as sort of a soundtrack to their trip to Kingston.  Some classics are presented on here, like Eek-A-Mouse’s “Wa-Do-Dem”, Beenie Man’s “Who Am I” (Sim Simmaaa!!), and Barrington Levy’s “Don’t Fuss Nor Fight”.  The vinyl album cover is wrapped with pictures from their trip, and did I mention that this album will only be available on vinyl?  Nice!  The only thing that’s missing is an accompanying air horn to blow off in between transitioning tracks!  “Pew pew pew pewwwww!!!”

Vans x Supreme – Old Skool “Giraffe” Blue (S/S 2012)

The third colorway we get to preview for you, is the blue pair.  A little more wild than the rest, and definitely sure to turn heads.  We believe there’s a fourth, grey/black colorway as well, but we have yet to find pics of those yet, but we have seen them on the Half Cab, so stay tuned, and hopefully Supreme drops some official info and pics soon.  We’re all getting anxious for the Spring/Summer 2012 drop!

Vans x Supreme – Old Skool “Giraffe” Olive (S/S 2012)

The next colorway we get to look at, is the Olive pair.  Another solid color combo, and the red lining gives it a nice Supreme touch.  As official pics release, we will be sure to post them up ASAP.  Thanks for looking!

Vans x Supreme – Old Skool “Giraffe” Khaki (S/S 2012)

I guess you can say that the cat’s out of the bag on these.  The “giraffe” pack is a wild and loud design, and we can now see that there’s going to be an Old Skool accompanying the Half Cab that’s been garnering much attention, and building buzz lately.  Some hate them, but most love them, and one things for sure, and that’s that everyone will know that they are a Supreme release for sure!  Don’t go anywhere, I still have two other colorways for you all!  These should be out within a few weeks, once the new Spring/Summer collection drops, and don’t forget to get the matching camp cap that goes with these!

Vans x colette x The Cobra Snake – Era “Hamburger” (2012)

Check out these interesting Era’s being released at colette in the near future.  These are the result of a collaboration effort between LA-native photographer Mark “The Cobra Snake” Hunter, colette, and Vans.  The inspiration of this release has something to do with American fast food, in particular, hamburgers.  This is a fairly accurate depiction of a big part of American culture if you ask me.  The Cobra Snake took the popular Burger King logos and flipped them into a personal logo as well, for that American touch.  Colette’s signature blue color was used for the laces and Vans tag, and branding from all parties involved are featured on the removable footbed.  We even got a shot of the packaging, which says “fast food for your feet”.  Who’s down to cop me a pair from colette, when they release on March 1st during Paris Fashion Week?

Vans x Carhartt – Old Skool (2012 Euro Exclusive?)

It’s been about a year since the last Vans x Carhartt collab released, and for the 2012 year, they’re back with a new model for us all.  This time they chose to use the Old Skool as their model of choice, and the theme falls in line with their prior releases, and with what Carhartt stands for, and that’s work wear.  The Old Skool’s seen here, feature work boot laces, and come in 4 colorways, Black, Brown, Tan, and White, and feature subtle camo patterns on the inner footbed, and the brown pair even went as far as to wrap the outer panels in the camo pattern material.  Each pair also features a corduroy tongue.  Interesting.  No word on if a local “known” supplier of Carhartt Europe will carry these, but as for now, they are a European exclusive like all of the past releases.
