Vans x Skateboarder Magazine – Capsule Collection (Preview!)

Translated via FreshNGood:

“Here’s a first look at one of the most consistent, and therefore more interesting, Vans collaborations seen so far:  the one with the first skate magazine in history, Skateboarder Magazine.

Introduced in 1964 as a spin-off of surf magazines of the period, Skateboarder Magazine had many ups and downs over the past 48 years but remains historically the first medium that contributed to the visibility and culture of skateboarding, especially since the mid-70s with the the first real generation of skateboarders, aka the Zephyr Team of Dogtown (who were famously sponsored by Vans).

Sharing the same era of the ’60s and Orange County, California, and many glorious memories, the team of Skateboarder Magazine and Vans have finally worked this year to build a mini-collection consisting of shoes and clothing. The shoes are three models related to the Heritage brand – the Era, the ’77 Mid Skool, and the Old Skool – replicated according to their original designs and colors, and the clothing consists of shirts, sweatshirts and accessories with the same colors as the shoes and the two logos together.

All this is part of the upcoming Fall 2012 collection from Vans, due out in late Summer and we’ll show you in detail shortly. stay tuned.”

Info via Primitive:

“We couldn’t be happier to announce that Primitive Shoes has partnered up with Vans to create a limited edition project. With 2012 marking the 20th anniversary of the Half Cab, we pay respect to one of our favorite skate shoes of all time by dressing it up Primitive style.

Exclusive to Primitive Shoes, the Cable Knit Half Cab is constructed mainly of rich pig suede, with cable knit detailing seen along the collar and tongue. A gunmetal plaque replaces the usual woven label, adding an even more premium appeal. Matching cable knit beanie included with each pair..

Vans Vault x Kicks HI x SIg Zane – “MAUKA TO MAKAI” Pack (Era LX and Chukka Boot LX)

Words via Hypebeast:

“Native Hawaiian design firm SIG ZANE was recently commissioned to help design a series of limited edition Vans shoes that culled inspiration from the authentic Hawaiian spirit. SIG responded with this “MAUKA to MAKAI” pack (“from the mountains to the sea”), containing the premium MAUKA Chukka Boot LX, and the premium MAKAI Era LX shoes. The ruggedly mountain-inspired MAUKA has an espresso brown suede and linen upper, and incorporates several signature pieces of SIG ZANE’s hand-cut artwork. The summery ocean-inspired MAKAI contrasts MAUKA, with its sky blue upper and white leather tongue and accents. It also features a unique mushroom coral print (a creature native to Hawaii) in the insole. This very limited Vans Vault pack will be available from KICKS/HI in both Honolulu and Guam, SIG ZANE Designs in Hilo, and Saint Alfred in Chicago during Merrie Monarch week starting on April 14. You can also find them online at Kicks HI, on April 16.”

Vans x Kenzo – Era (sneak peek)

It looks like Vans will be teaming up with Parisian retailer Kenzo on an upcoming Era.  Recently, their creative direction has been taken over by Opening Ceremony, so we can expect a whole lot of new ideas to be coming out of this French label.  This Era is pretty loud, as seems to be the case with other recent Paris-native brand collabs with Vans.  Featuring a somewhat chain-link pattern all over, in green/red, and white/blue.  As more info becomes available, we’ll be sure to keep you posted.

Vans Syndicate – AVE/Dill Pack (Review by @DJGuamstyles)

This has been a fun week trying to hunt down pairs of the latest Syndicate release for fellow OTWS members.  The 3-shoe pack, designed by pro skaters Anthony Van Engelen, and Jason Dill, consists of a shoe designed by each of them, as well as a third shoe, representing a combination of both of their creations.

AVE designed the Old Skool 92 Pro “S”, utilizing a classy dress shoe leather, and a cheetah faux fur fabric.  Don’t be fooled into thinking the leather is cheap, like most of you have thought.  My detailed pics will show the quality of the leather, as we’d all expect from Syndicate.  The inner lining consists of soft supple leather, and a detail not previously noticed is the collar and tongue binding wrapped in suede!  Thin waxed laces finish these off nicely, along with a metal top lace eyelet.

Dill’s creation is the Authentic Pro “S” wrapped in a silver textured snakeskin print throughout the entire shoe.  Metal lace eyelets finish them off nicely.  The footbed has Dill on it, as well as the scorpion20/21 logo that this set revolves around.  More on that later.

The final shoe features a mixture of both styles.  The AV Sk8-Low “S” was chosen to rep both of these awesome dudes.  Wrapped entirely in a premium dress shoe leather, with the popular cheetah faux fur material on the inner lining.  The backside of the tongue has the silver snakeskin material that was featured on the Authentic, but sadly the snakeskin material on the removable sock liner, didn’t make it to the production version, instead it features both AVE and Dill on it, as well as their scorpion 20/21 logo, which represents them both being scorpio’s, having been born on November 20th, and 21st respectively.  By the way, this series utilizes the gel padded sock liners, in case you were wondering!  Also one last feature I failed to mention, featured on all 3 models, is the clear waffle soles on the bottom.  Yellowing is inevitable, and has already started to take place!  Live with it!

Hope you enjoyed this nice little feature.  We have some exciting new tees coming soon, so please support us, and buy one when they come out.  If you like what we do for you here, like dropping info on the Vans iPhone Case restocking, and the general heads up on the Twitter feeds, then show some support damnit!  Hehe, peace everyone -Guamstyles

Vans – Half Cab “20th Annviersary” Forest Green (April 2012)

The 20th Anniversary of the Half Cab is now in full stride.  Each month, releasing a new colorway, in a limited amount, at select Vans stores and partner accounts.  For April, the colorway chosen is Forest Green, which is a nice follow up to the white pair that came out in March.  A classic color for sure, and definitely giving off that 90’s vibe, with natural colors, and simplistic blocking.  Are these a must have?  Due out some time this week at your local Vans spot.

Vans Syndicate – AVE/Dill Pack Video Review (by @SamColt12)

OTWS member samcolt12 is the king of sneaker video reviews, and he doesn’t miss one Vans Syndicate release!  We all depend on Tom to bring us a firsthand look at almost every new release that comes out, and there’s nobody out there who operates with the consistency that he does.  Check out his video review of the Syndicate AVE/Dill “Cheetah” Old Skool“.  Thanks for doing these for us, good sir!

Vans x Supreme – Campbell’s Soup Collection (coming soon?)

Supreme’s been doing a pretty nice job of keeping their releases from being leaked lately, but this is a nice twist to what we thought we knew already.  We’ve all seen the Campbell’s Soup Authentic already, and dubbed it the “Soupremes”, which we speculated to be part of an Andy Warhol tribute collection, and it turns out we were correct.  What we didn’t know, was that there were two other models releasing as well,  a Sk8-Hi, and a Half Cab.  The Sk8-Hi is blocked out in the traditional black suede, on the toe, tongue, upper, and heel panels, with the soup can print on the side panels.  The Half Cab will be similar to the Authentic, with an all-over print theme.  The difference, is the black laces, for a nice contrast.  There’s no other info on these at the moment, so just sit tight until Supreme makes an official announcement on these.  Which one(s) do you want?
