Vans x 17th Street – Chukka Low “Stealth Low”

Words via Hypebeast:

Vans joins longtime skate, surf and sport purveyor 17th Street Surf Shop to mint a new shoe branded the “Stealth Low.” The pair is mocked up in charcoal grey suede with accents of black leather throughout. Elements of a blue hue trace their way to the rear heel midsole hit, Vans embroidery tag, off-colored eyelet and interior footbed. Aligning with the release, 17th Street uncovers a short skate film that sees members of its team shredding in the collaborative pair. Priced at $60 USD, the Stealth Low is now offered online.”

Vans Japan x BEAMS – Authentic “Van Doren” (Japan Only)

Why is it that Japan gets so many cool Vans exclusives?  I believe it has something to do with their passion for culture, whether it’s their own, or there ability to embrace other cultures with a level of detail that nobody else can.  This release pays homage to the original Vans shoe, the Authentic, constructed in the exact same shape and style as the original, using the same blue, black, and blue/yellow canvas colorways as well.  They even went as far as putting the triple-stitch on the heel, and the leather heel pad on the sockliner.  The heel tab says Van Doren just like the now vintage pairs do, and the only give away that these aren’t the original Made in USA pairs, is the use of the new VFC rubber, which some OTWS members despise!  More on that, can be dug up in the forums, but that’s neither here nor there.  The packaging is also finished off in the original Van Doren design as well.  These are a great replica to the originals, and the Japanese consumers will certainly be lucky to have these, and I know they’ll understand the significance of them.  These are being sold exclusively through BEAMS retail stores, throughout Japan as well as online now.

Vans Vault x Sig Zane x KICKS/HI – “Makai” Era LX Premium

Words via KicksHI:

“The reflection of the blue sky with glimmers of white in Omoka’a pond is the signature of our paradise. Where the Pacific meets the islands, we are left with a tide pool palette unique to the Makai (the sea). With a sky linen body, white leather tongue and also with cut leather laces, this is the solid summer joint. The Olako’aka featured on the insole takes us back to the beginning of the Kumulipo creation chant. The mushroom coral is one of the first creatures mentioned in the Kumulipo and make up the origins of our Hawaiian islands.”

This limited Vans Vault pack will be released exclusively at KICKS/HI (Honolulu, HI), Sig Zane Designs (Hilo, HI), KICKS/HI Guam (Tumon Bay, Guam), and Saint Alfred (Chicago) on during Merrie Monarch week, April 14th, 2012. Vans x Primitive – Half Cab Pro “Cable Knit” (Review)

So here they are. Finally. Think back to when you were a kid on Christmas morning…or your first day of Hannukah…or your birthday…or when you knew you were about to lose your virginity, or…huh? What? Oh, nevermind, sorry! That emotion never gets old. That’s exactly what I felt when I went out to my porch and saw a big box with a return address from Primitive. Now, I might sound biased after that little build up there, but I’m going to say that these will be the best Half Cab of the year. Yup, that’s right. THE BEST. Even with all of the 20th Anniversary models yet to come out, these have so many features that a proper collaboration should have. Unique materials? Check. Company branding? Check. A theme? Check. Something original? Check. You can tell these were designed by some sneakerheads, and that’s no secret.

The guys over at Primitive were sneaker collectors long before they opened their doors, and by knowing some friends, and having an envious network, they have made their success look easy. It doesn’t hurt to have the baddest models in the game showing off your product either! If you noticed though, this time they played down Shay Maria, and let the press photos focus more on the shoes, which was subconsciously making you pay attention to the details!

These Half Cab Pro’s couldn’t have come out more perfect. I love the cable knit wool sweater material, the metal Half Cab tag, and you can’t forget the custom printed footbed, inside tongue label, and heel tab. Did you even notice the satin lining? On point! These will be out tomorrow only at Primitive in Encino, and in Germany, and a few pairs will be put on their webstore as well.
