Vans – Half Cab Pro “20th Anniversary” – Steve Caballero (August 2012)

August is now in full swing, and that means it’s time for a new Half Cab, as part of the 20th Anniversary celebration of the iconic shoe.  This month we get the honor of receiving the model designed by Steve Caballero, himself.  If you didn’t know, he’s a sick illustrator, and you can see lots of his work on his Instagram (@steviecab).  For his design, he went with a deep chili pepper red color, and created a dragon character that sits nicely on the tongue and side label.  One of the sickest artist series so far, for the Half Cab 20th Anniversary collection!  Available for purchase from Vans by clicking on the picture above.  These also qualify for free FedExground shipping!!!  Support us by purchasing these through our site!

Vans Vault x Horween Leather – Sk8-Hi Boat Strap LX (available now!)

Here’s the first release from the highly anticipated Vans Vault x Horween Leather collection, and I must say that their first impression is a great one.  I mean, we already knew that the quality was going to be top-notch, and that there was going to be a lot of attention to detail, and that is exactly what I am seeing here.  From the toe strap, to the heel and foxing stripe, the floral pattern-embossed Horween leather is a thing of beauty, while the jute and canvas with pinstripe cotton lining is a nice contrast, adding to the high end look and feel of this nautical-inspired piece.  They’re finished off with square leather laces, and a two-tone siped outsole, geared for boat decks, but you won’t catch me wearing these anywhere near water!  They are both now available at DQM for Vans in NYC.

Vans Vault x Taka Hayashi – Derby Trek LX Horween (Fall/Winter 2012)

Here’s the first look we get of the Vans Vault x Horween capsule collection, and for their debut, they decided to release the Taka Hayashi designed Derby Trek LX Horween.  Constructed with Horween’s American-produced premium tanned leather.  Constructed using a new lug-type sole that is stitched to the upper, they are ready for the winter, if you dare to wear them out in the elements.  These are available in a Black, or Brown colorway, featuring a different colored sole for each model.  Beware, the price tag is steep, coming in above the $300 mark!  These will be hitting select Vans Vault retailers in the near future, but Firmament in Berlin has already received theirs.

Vans Vault x Kicks/HI – Authentic LX

Words via Hypebeast, who had the exclusive drop on these:

“Continuing its highly sought after synergetic ways, iconic skate label Vans aligns with Hawaiian sneaker boutique KICKS/HI to produce a limited edition, straight from the Vault, Authentic LX. Inspiration for this collaborative model comes from the attire of the Hawaiian cowboy, also known as the “Paniolo.” When Mexican-Spanish Vaqueros immigrated to the chain of Pacific islands during the mid-19th century, they brought with them a unique style of dress that befitted rancheros. Combining both past and present influences, the outcome sees cues from traditional cowboy shirting as well as their rugged leather boots and saddles with a two tone upper combining chambray and premium tanned leather. This release will be available exclusively at KICKS/HI, KICKS/HI Guam and Saint Alfred on August 4.”

Offthewall.tv – Vans Vault x Horween Leather Company Collection

Vans Vault has released information regarding a special collaboration with Horween Leather Company, soon to hit Vault dealers.  Offthewall.tv was on hand to follow alongside the design team, as they toured the Horween tannery in Chicago, listening to Skip Horween, talk about the hard work it takes to create a top-notch product, still being made here in the U.S.A., since 1909.  He’s the great-grandson to the founder of the company, who migrated from Ukraine  to America in the early 1900s.  This upcoming project will consist of quite a few models, and Taka Hayashi is on board as well, to design a few shoes.  In the video, we get a glimpse of some classics, as well as some newer models, such as the Era, Mountain Edition, Zapato Del Barco, Trek Lo, and a new field boot that I don’t know the name of.  The leather is something to admire, as you just don’t see this level of quality in most sneakers anymore.  These are definitely on my hit list.  How about you?

Vans x Kenzo – Authentic “Floral Pattern” (Fall 2012)

It appears that Kenzo will be collaborating with Vans on yet another Authentic for the Fall, this time choosing an intricate floral pattern for the entire shoe.  The entire shoe is covered in the same pattern, for a more simple, less bold look than their other releases.  These will most likely be exclusive to Kenzo’s retail partners in Paris, and most likely Opening Ceremony’s webstore.
