Words via Hypebeast:

“Calling upon the likes of Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain America, The Incredible Hulk and Thor, Vans has teamed up with Marvel for a collaborative collection of footwear. Featuring the Era and reissued edition of the Sk8-Hi, the collection sees comic strip graphics showcasing Marvel’s iconic superheroes while collaborative branding hits the tongue of each silhouette. Complete with custom packaging and additional details like leather vamps, bolted hexagonal eyelets and embossed spiderweb graphics, the Marvel x Vans Classics Spring 2013 Collection is now available at select stockists while a special edition of the Era – featuring a group collage of The Avengers – is set to drop in March.”

Vans Syndicate 022.133 – Mike Hill of Alien Workshop (Exclusive @Silostore Interview)

OTWS’ connection with the skate, sneaker, and fashion industry we indirectly represent, wouldn’t be possible without a few key figures that we stay in close contact with and embrace, and Brant, owner of Silo skate shop in Nebraska, is hands down our #1 life line.  Being a fellow Vans Syndicate fanatic and an early adopter of their lifestyle, we naturally crossed paths early on, and have a great customer relationship with each other.  This same crossing of paths happened for him and Mike Hill, the Creative Director / Lead Designer of Alien Workshop, many moons ago, when a young Brant was just starting out, running his skateshop in his adolescence years.  They share a common background, coming from the rural mid-west, and representing the core skater to the fullest.  Brant waxes nostalgia about his style and progression for skateboarding maturing over time, and sharing his experiences with touring and demoing with AWS, and later on collaborating on many projects with them.  Then, we get into the meat and potatoes of the article…the shoes!  The upcoming Authentic Pro “S”, and Sk8-Hi Boot “S” are going to be a serious contender for “Vans of the year”, and we get a first look into the upcoming releases.  Sit back, grab a cold one, and enjoy this superbly written article, by our friend Brant over on the Silo Feature.

Vans x Haro BMX – Capsule Collection (Summer 2013)

full_harovans_475816

Words via BMXUnion:

“It looks like Vans and Haro have teamed up to do some limited edition Freestyler shoes. Pat Casey posted these shots of the shoes up on Instagram giving you a look at two versions, an old school high top with the classic Vans checkered pattern and the old Freestyler logo, and then some classic lows with the same checkered pattern. No word on the release, but I’d imagine it won’t be long before you will be able to get yourself a pair or two.”  OTWS members have also found a few press photos of the Era and Sk8-Hi, which can be seen after the jump!

Vans x Supreme – Rose Pattern Chukka (Spring/Summer 2013?)

1

I guess this may be the next Supreme collaboration with Vans, and from the looks of it, they’re just messing with y’all!  An all over rose print, really?  Supreme’s got the youth demographic covered, so I guess they’re starting to branch out into the elderly 65-80 year old grandma crowd?  What the heck?!  Now, there’s no confirmation that these are the S/S ’13 drop, or any future drop for that matter, as we’ve seen other various samples, where the shoes never released, but the apparel did.  Anyways, this Chukka will be sure to sell out, and who knows, maybe I’m just not as fashion forward as most, but I don’t know what they were thinking when they decided to sample these.  Perhaps you can go around calling these “them rose camo joints” or something.  Anyways, stay tuned for any new info, as there’s sure to be some Supreme news soon.

Vans Vault x Taka Hayashi – TH Revere HI LX (Spring 2013)

vans-vault-2013-spring-th-revere-hi-lx-1

Words via HypeBeast:

“Known for this work in the past that has produced new spins on the Half Cab Pro, Sierra Trek HI LX II and Sierra Dune LX, designer Taka Hayashi has once again partnered with Vans. The latest reworking – the Spring 2013 TH Revere HI LX – features a prominent palm leaf graphic in navy set against contrasting white, beige and brown leather and is slightly indicative of a pack last seen in May 2012. Expect to see the latest from Vans at select Vans Vault accounts in the near future.”

Vans x Skate Park of Tampa x Russ Pope – Sk8-Hi Pro (First Look!)

images2011_agenda_nyc_DSC_0087

It’s been a minute since we’ve seen a S.P.O.T. collabo, and their designs have always been known to come out of left field, and this one is no different.  This time, they’ve enlisted artist Russ Pope to do some handy work on the side panel graphics, featuring a bunch of heads in his signature hand-drawn pen style.  The shoe is wrapped primarily in black suede, but with purple canvas side panels with the said artwork on it, while sitting on top of a white sole.  Check out a few pics from SPoT’s webpage, while they were at Agenda Trade Show NYC this past week.  If any new info arises, we will be sure to share it!

Vans – Chima Ferguson Pro Model (First Look)

DSC_1398_zpsf300c569

Up until now, we’ve only had some teaser photos of Vans team member Chima Ferguson’s new pro model shoe, and thanks to WearTested.com, we now have a better look.  They attended Bright Show 2013, where they were able to preview the upcoming seasonal offerings from all of your favorite brands.  These were designed by him, for him, and they look like a cross between a Zero Lo, a Chukka Low, and an Era.  Taking cues and shape from each mentioned model, he came up with a sleek, fresh design for himself.  Featuring the same vulcanized sole that we all love, but TPU reinforced to allow it to last a little bit longer.  It will initially be released in a black, grey, and a navy patterned canvas version, featuring small leather accents here and there.  Stay tuned for any release info.

Vans Vintage Collector Exhibition at House of Vans Berlin (Recap)

Vans-Vintage-Collector-Exhibition-at-House-of-Vans-Berlin-Recap-01-630x420

words via Highsnobiety:

“Vans Europe showcased a collection of vintage footwear and apparel representing the brand’s 47 year history this week as part of the House of Vans Berlin takeover during fashion week. The exhibition was a compilation of the personal collections of the Skateboard Museum’s Jürgen Blümlein, The Other Side of the Pillow’s Henry Davies and longtime Vans collaborator/artist Dimitri Coste.

Over 200 pairs of original shoes dating back to 1966 were on display with an illustrated timeline of the company. Highlights included a pair of recently discovered shoes thought to date back to the first few months of production at the original Vans factory in Orange County, classic ‘80s canvas prints and a few oddities including clown shoes in Vans iconic checkerboard.”

On a side note:  Perhaps if Vans were to ever put on an exhibit like this, here in the states, (preferably Southern California, where I’m from!), then hopefully they will reach out to us here at OTWS to curate our own Vans exhibition.  We are fellow Vans addicts, like OTWS advocate Dimitri, and Wayne and Henry from The Other Side of the Pillow, and follow along in their same footsteps, and although our collections aren’t as vintage as theirs, we represent the next generation if you will, of Vans collectors, with many rare pairs.  Just sayin’.  Hit us up if we can help you, and feel free to utilize our vast collection!

Vans Japan x Stussy – Sk8-Hi “Year of the Snake”

stussy-vans-sk8-hi-year-snake-1-630x424

Vans Japan has teamed up with Stussy on this dope looking Sk8-Hi to commemorate this being the year of the snake.  Covered in an all-over snakescale print, with red jazz stripe, and a snake graphic on the sidewall of the vulc sole.  These are finished off nicely, with an embroidered title on the heel panel, in the signature Stussy font, saying “YEAR OF THE SNAKE”.  It’s been a long time since Vans USA has collaborated with Stussy, in fact it was over 10 years ago!  Come on Vans!  Hook up the stateside peeps!!!  Available in Japan, sometime this year.
