This Sk8-Hi Reissue from the California collection next year, is bound to be a hit. The premium pebbled leather, color matching triple-wide foxing stripe, and clean white midsole, are a nice touch for the monochromatic color blocking. It’s all in the details. I was combing through eBay, looking for the usual, and I came across these 3 pairs of Chukka Del Barco CA samples, from CollectiveLTD, which have been given the “Deconstruct” treatment, similar to the Sk8-Hi versions. According to the auction info, these are due out in 2011, and the 3 colorways are go very well with the overall shoe design. Each one is constructed in a canvas material, and they all share the same brown leather lacing, and white midsoles. The 3 colors are, White/Dress Blues with a navy foxing stripe, Black/True White with a black foxing stripe, and Shitake/True White with a shitake foxing stripe. No release info, but these samples are definitely on point.

The Vans California 2011 spring collection is looking to be another great season full of instant hits. The SK8-Hi Reissue CA in tonal navy blue leather is my most favorite, while the Chukka Del Barco Decon CA, available in canvas material this time, is my second. A trend we are seeing for this season are leopard prints, which Vans decided to use on the Authentic Lo Pro.

Earlier this month we brought you a few pics on the 106 Vulcanized from the California collection. Well, HUF has just received these, and the actual production version has a slimmed down profile, without the padded collar, like was shown before. It’s an interesting change, and with the premium leathers, and the unique half-white foxing stripe, these are looking pretty nice. You can purchase these on their webstore for $65.

A lot of the California collection has been starting to show up at local retailers, and the latest info to come out, is for the Vans California Holiday 2010 Authentic CA. Done up in four twill/canvas materials, in the colorways: Black/Monks Robe”, “Bonnnie Blue/ Monks Robe”, “Cornstalk / Monks Robe”, and “True White/ Monks Robe. I assume the Monks Robe reference, is for the brown leather collar strip, and brown foxing stripe? These should be available soon at your local California dealer.

It’s time for another up close and personal review! This time, we bring to you the Mid Skool 77 Hiker from the California collection. We’ve already previewed these earlier this month, so this post will be more aimed at the details. First off, this shoe has an obvious outdoor theme to it with it’s boot shape, brass colored D-ring lace eyelets, and the reversed, waffle-patterned sole. The black nubuck suede is treated with Scotchgard, which makes cleaning easier, and helps resist most oil and water spills. Plus it keeps the leather looking good longer. The insoles are made up of Ortholite insoles, which provide long lasting cushioning, moisture wicking capabilities, air flow for a cool foot, and are odor and fungus inhibiting. The soles are really nice, and the next time you see these in stores, try them on for fun, and you’ll see for yourself what I’m talking about. The light brown contrasting colors, along with the round black leather laces, make this an easy shoe to wear with almost anything, so it definitely has a place in your shoe lineup.
