Vans x Sick Of It All! – Sk8-Hi (1.3.17)

SickOfItAllSk8-Hi-1

By the time you read this, these will have already sold out.  Vans has teamed up with hardcore band Sick Of It All!, to pay tribute to their 30 years of existence.  The band was formed in 1986, so SOIA decided to create a very limited run of only 86 pairs of the Sk8-Hi that you see here.  Featuring an all-over print of their logo, and custom embroidered band name on the heel panel.  The site link is still up, so perhaps a restock might be in the works, but they will go fast again if they reappear.  Good luck, and enjoy more pics after the jump.

House of Vans Announces the Return of the Vans House Parties Kicking Off May 19

House of Vans Summer Parties Series Flyer

Vans continues its year-long celebration of 50 years “Off The Wall” with the return of the House of Vans summer series, House Parties. Back for six exhilarating shows in Greenpoint, the free House of Vans events marry a robust music lineup with an elevated art exhibition, setting the stage for an experience that pays homage to New York City’s punk, hardcore and hip hop heritage alongside Vans’ one-of-a-kind culture. Presenting 18 acts from a range of genres all representing Vans’ diverse musical aesthetic, House of Vans will welcome DIIV, Sleep, Rae Sremmurd, Battles, Quicksand, Converge, Neon Indian, Jon Hopkins, The Field, BadBadNotGood and more.

To celebrate the evolution of street culture and the aesthetic of New York City, Vans has partnered with several visual artists to transform the House of Vans into an art experience that will showcase the cultural intersection of punk, hardcore, rap and skateboarding through various mediums. The immersive experience begins as guests approach House of Vans where they will be treated to a special light installation customized by Ken Farmer that is inspired by a once flickering light existing several years ago on the building’s burnt out marquee. Upon entering, the space will continue to evolve with several installations including graffiti by iconic NYC artists WANE ONE and Stash, a massive collage using vintage NYC punk flyers by Scott Ewalt, and a fully functioning boombox wall commemorating ‘80s hip hop and street culture from Bayeté Ross Smith.

In partnership with FYF, the 2016 Vans House Parties offer a rare opportunity to experience some of the best live music programming out there in a truly unique and historical art setting that celebrates Vans’ rich “Off The Wall” heritage in one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world.

Vans family and friends can now RSVP to attend the first show of the 2016 Vans House Parties summer series. www.houseofvans.com

Vans Vault x DQM x Blue Note Records (Spring/Summer 2015)

14_bluenote_1200

Words via DQM:

“DQM has collaborated with Vans to produce a very special project with the iconic Blue Note Records. Releasing this Spring and Summer, the project includes two separate, consecutive footwear releases accompanied by a film featuring Don Was, the renowned musician/ producer President of Blue Note Records, and the legendary skateboarder and jazz-inspired contemporary musician Ray Barbee.

Founded in New York in 1939 by Alfred Lion and Max Margulis, Blue Note Records has just celebrated 75 years recording the world’s greatest jazz. Many Blue Note albums, especially from the 1950’s and early 1960’s, are considered to the be the finest jazz recordings of all time, such that the record label name itself is now synonymous with the seminal American music form.

The Blue Note Records project produced by DQM and Vans is inspired by the rhythm and extemporization that exists similarly within music, especially jazz, and skateboarding. Equally characterized by free-form thinking, style and improvisation, the art forms of music and skateboarding share a special connection. Both start with a simple stroke of the guitar, a push on a skateboard, and from there, its flow.

The project includes consecutive Vans footwear releases produced exclusively for DQM; an OG Era LX and an OG Sk8-Hi LX style in two colorways, ‘The Colors’, releasing in store on May 8th, and online on May 11th, and ‘The Blues’, releasing later in June. The shoes are constructed in 6oz canvas yardage printed with a collage featuring cover art from Blue Note’s epic catalog; each pair is unique.

Produced in a limited edition, the Blue Note Records footwear collection will be available in men’s and women’s sizes exclusively in store at The Vans DQM General in SoHo, New York and online at dqmnewyork.com”.

Vans x Descendents – Old Skool & Authentic (Re-issued!)

21171_400x400

At the beginning of the week we discovered that the Descendents dropped a bomb on us.  They re-issued their signature gray & blue Vans Old Skool & Authentics, featuring their main man Milo adorned on each shoe.  Word spread fast throughout our inner circles, and those who have been searching for their sizes for a long time finally had a chance to get them.  We even saw a pair or two trying to be unloaded on eBay, before the word got out that these were available.  The Old Skool is sold out for now, but there are still a few good sizes in the Authentic.  Jump on these while you still can by heading over to the Descendents webstore, and thanks to UTP forum member luisnskates for being one of the first to give us the heads up on these!
