We’re proud to announce Aryo Toh Djojo will be contributing a piece for the Waffurusōru art exhibition!
This is Shepard Fairey’s contribution to the Half Cab 20th Anniversary exhibit at this year’s Downtown Showdown in Amsterdam recently. He took the all white canvas Half Cab and doctored it up in some OBEY steez. Vans needs to get this one in production!

Arkiv and Shaztech have kindly allowed us to piggy back on to this event, and sort of make it our inaugural meet and greet for OTWS members. We’ve never tried to organize anything in our entire lives before, but hey, if we want to get anywhere, we can’t all just interact over a web forum! Come out and support! We hope to see you there.
The Arkiv Art solo exhibition is right around the corner, at the Toy Art Gallery in Los Angeles, and we are proud to be a supporter of Arkiv Vilmansa, and his awesome art. He’ll be visiting us on August 4th, 2012, all the way from Singapore, and he’s got quite a few pieces to exhibit, including three custom Vans Era’s custom hand-painted by him, in his signature flowing “feathers” if you will. They are a thing of beauty, and we’re expecting a huge turn-out for this event. This isn’t his first show here, and it surely won’t be his last. He’s on the rise, and you all need to come and witness this guy before he’s too big to hang around all of us small people! Come and say you were an early supporter. In fact, we have teamed up with Arkiv to produce a small amount of tees for the event. Portraying the “bones” theme that the shoes will be displayed with, he came up with a custom design exclusively for us, and you can order one right now, over on our OFFTHEWALLSITE forums. Send a direct message to his manager, OTWS member shaztech, and he will be able to set you up with a pre-order, to possibly wear to the event, where Arkiv may sign it for you! The numbers are limited. We’re talking about less than 10 per each size, so send him a message, or email him at shaz@arkivart.com. Don’t pass up this opportunity to own an awesome piece! Check out Arkiv Vilmansa’s work over on his site, and a few pieces he has for sale over on the TAG Webstore. He’s a truly amazing artist, and mark my words, he will be going places in the near future, and I’m glad that OTWS was given the opportunity to be a part of his growth and history!

OTWS follower Thomas de Fleurian, designed these awesome wallpapers for your iPhone4. Inspired by the official Vans iPhone4 silicon case, the image is available in Black or White, and formatted perfectly for your lock screen or wallpaper. Big thanks to Thomas for taking the time out to do this! It’s awesome! Follow him at @champi_gnon on Instagram.
Both wallpapers are available to save to your iPhone, after the jump. Read More

Thought this was pretty interesting. Akin has a blogspot showcasing all of his sketches, and he’s done a few Vans shoes. This Authentic looks pretty dope, and would even look pretty cool on a t-shirt or something. Nice work man!

“Twenty years, twenty skaters, twenty photos and one shoe, that was the premise for the opening reception of Vans Syndicate “Twenty” at New Image Art gallery in Hollywood, CA. From Steve Caballero to Stevie Williams, “Twenty”, a selection of images curated by Lance Dawes, celebrates the legacy of the iconic Half Cab. Custom waffle grip imprinted frames were made to highlight the master lensmen’s work and to symbolize the sole of skateboarding. Pabst Blue Ribbon provided the brew and Hollywood supplied the back drop for lucky attendees to bump elbows with skate idols like Christian Hosoi, Chad Muska, Jason Dill and Eric Dressen. Photographers like Mike O’Meally, Ben Colen and Atiba Jefferson came out from behind the lens to enjoy their well deserved moment in the spotlight and to remind us with their images just how influential the Half Cab has been to the past, present and future of skateboarding.”

“Vans celebrated twenty years of the Half Cab with an art show featuring twenty photos of top pros wearing the shoe. The show spans from the early nineties all the way up to 2011.”
A recap of the opening night’s event can be found over on the Skateboarder Magazine blog.
