Vans Anaheim Factory – Slip-On 47 DX (Available Now @silostore)

thumbnail_SLIP-ON47-OVERVIEW

The Anaheim Factory collection is one of our favorites, and they just released these suede renditions of their popular Slip-On 47 DX, made popular by Fear Of God, but now a mainstay in the Vans lineup.  For some reason, the all suede mock-ups just go really well with this style, and when they’re being offered up in an OG Black and OG Brick colorway, then you can’t go wrong with either!  They’re only available at select retailers, so they may be hard to find, but have no fear, our friends over at Silo have them online, as well as in store at their Omaha, NE location.  Each pair retails for $80.  Don’t sleep!

Vans Anaheim Factory – Collection 3 (Official Pics)

SP18_Classics_Anaheim_Factory_VN0A3MUOQF6_MidSkool37DX_AnaheimFactoryBlackWhite_Elevated

Words via Vans:

“Vans’ Anaheim Factory Collection pays homage to the brand’s over 50-year history of footwear by reintroducing iconic silhouettes that celebrate unique design details informed by the original Vans make and model. For the third installment of the Anaheim Factory Collection, Vans re-issues four heritage styles to the Classics footwear range including the Slip-On 47 DX, Mid Skool 37 DX for men and the Style 29 DX and Style 17 DX for women. Each design includes the original style number and is trademarked by a vintage-inspired color palette. With a prominent higher glossed foxing tape, each model mimics the early stages of the vulcanization process that Vans is known for today. Finally, each footwear style has been revamped with upgraded Vans UltraCushÔ sock liners to provide modernized comfort within a timeless Vans design.

First released in the 1980s, the Slip-On 47 was the second iteration of the Slip-On style to be introduced within the Vans footwear line. This low-profile silhouette was updated to include a Velcro strap and enhanced padding along the collar of each shoe. New to the Anaheim Factory Collection, the Mid Skool 37 DX was originally created following the first advanced modifications in skateboarding footwear, which prompted more cushion and increased ankle protection. The Mid Skool 37 DX sports Vans’ signature Sidestripe with a branded heel counter and contrasting white tongue.

Taking it back to the ‘90s, Vans brings back two styles, made exclusively for women. The Style 29 DX captures the quintessential essence of the early ‘90s era, showcasing heavyweight cotton canvas uppers, brass metal eyelets and a marshmallow toe-cap. Available in three colorways including an OG Olive, the Style 29 DX reveals a distinct exposed lug outsole. Rounding out the Anaheim Factory Collection is the Style 17 DX. Introduced in 1992 as a fashionable update to the Classic Slip-On, the Style 17 DX uses mule construction with cotton canvas uppers and a robust reverse lug sole.”

The Anaheim Factory Collection will be available to shop in a few Vans retail stores and some are available NOW online.

Vans Anaheim Factory – Slip-On 47 V DX (Available Now!)

MVAMR2-ALT2

Here’s one that we’ve been secretly anticipating for awhile now, and it looks like it’s ready to order.  You may have seen this rendition of the Slip-On from the recent Civilist Berlin collab, or perhaps you’ve heard of a brand named Fear Of God, who might have shed a much brighter light on this model, with their 4 colorways, but me being the Vans snob that I am, I have to give proper credit where credit is due, and that’s with Henry, aka Pillowheat, our gatekeeper to the vintage Vans, once Made In The USA, but now most pairs residing in the United Kingdom, lol, for actually having physical examples of this Style 147 shoe for all of us to see, and for this shoe to even exist today!  We should be so lucky to have his archive around, so we can experience this retro era for Vans, where there is a heavy influence on their earlier years.  Here’s what Vans has to say about these:

“The Anaheim Factory Slip-On 47 V DX pays tribute to our first Vans factory in Anaheim, California, by borrowing details from the original Classic Slip-On and offering modernized comfort with upgraded UltraCush sockliners. The Anaheim Factory Slip-On 47 V DX also includes throwback details, higher glossed foxing tape, original drill lining weight, and textile uppers with a hook-and-loop closure to complete the look.”

Vans Anaheim Factory – Checkerboard Pack (Available Now!)

FA17_Classics_NJOT_AnaheimFactory_Collection

Words via Vans:

“Vans looks to its past to bring forth two Checkerboard patterns from the Vans archives as an update to the Anaheim Factory Pack. First introduced last season, the Anaheim Factory Pack takes elements from the original make and model of Vans Classic Icons and reinvents them with the Vans’ innovative UltraCushÔ foam technology for premium comfort.

The Authentic 44 DX and Style 36 DX were developed to match the original construction of the Classics that were produced in the first Vans factory in Anaheim, California. Cotton laces, heavy 10 oz. canvas, style numbers, original drill lining found on the heel of each shoe and a higher glossed foxing tape that captures the sheen that came from the original vulcanization process, are all design elements that were seen over 51 years ago.  As a nod to the retro styling, Vans designers dressed the Authentic 44 DX and Style 36 DX with Checkerboard in OG black and mauve colorways. Along with the timeless design, each model has been upgraded with an UltraCushÔ sockliner delivering modernized comfort.”

The Anaheim Factory Pack pays homage to Vans’ humble beginnings that led to five decades of pinnacle design. To catch the limited run of Classics, visit Vans stores and vans.com/classics OR click on the pic above to purchase now!

Vans Anaheim Factory Edition Series

SP17_Classics_Anaheim_Collection_Elevated

Vans pays tribute to over 50 years of “Off The Wall” design history by releasing the Anaheim Factory pack, a collection of Classic silhouettes that draws inspiration from the original footwear produced in Anaheim, Calif. When Vans opened for business in 1966, a 400 sq. ft. retail store was connected to the front of the production factory, which sold a handful of simple canvas footwear. Today, Vans calls upon those early styling cues to release a modern update to Vans Icons as a part of the ongoing Classics “Not Just One Thing” campaign.

Every design element within the Anaheim Factory pack could be dated back to the late ‘60s and early ‘70s. Style numbers are used to signify the original design mold of three footwear models – the Authentic 44, Old Skool 36 and Sk8-Hi 38. Each style utilizes a marshmallow sidewall with a higher profile and is treated with a slight sheen that was present after going through Vans’ early vulcanization process. The entire offering features a heavy 10-oz. canvas and the Sidestripe models showcase a suede toe cap, heel counter and eyestay. All colorways including the racing red, mineral green and light grey could have been found when you visited the original Anaheim Factory store. Vans has equipped each silhouette with a premium UltraCush footliner so you can enjoy a modernized take on one of Vans Classic Icon silhouettes.

The Anaheim Factory pack ranges from $75- $85 USD and is available to shop globally in Vans retail stores and online at Vans.com/Classics now.
